Other long-term D visas 

The Hungarian D visa, also known as the Hungarian long-term visa, allows individuals to stay in Hungary for more than 90 days for various purposes such as work, study, family reunion or long-term stay. This visa is usually issued as a single-entry visa, but allows the holder to apply for a residence permit in Hungary.

The following are the visa categories involved in the new immigration law in 2024: 

    Golden Visa by Investment (10+10 years, 2 generations of the family , can work and obtain permanent residents )

    Guest work visa (with actual employer, 2+1 years, cannot apply for family reunification, holders cannot apply for permanent resident permit.  

Ordinary work permit ( with actual employer, up to 3 years, cannot apply for family reunification, cannot apply for permanent residence)

Self-employed/company manager visa (actual company, 1+2 years, can apply for family reunification after a year.  holders  cannot apply for permanent resident permits). 

Self-employed visa needs to wait for one year before reunification, tax is double than the minimum wage holders. Company manager visa requires 5 Hungarian formal employees to continuously registrated. 

Highly Qualified Worker Permit (University or above diploma or advanced technical license, 3+3 years, family reunion, permanent resident permit can be applied.  Including Hungarian Card, EU Blue Card, ICT, scientific research purposes)

Digital Nomad Visa (1+1 year, no family reunification no permanent resident permit can be obtained), the main condition is to have a monthly income of at least 3,000 euros for 6 consecutive months.  second condition is to earn income through internet. 

Project work visa (actual employer, up to 3 years, can apply for family unification, not permanent resident can be applied). The end of the project means the end of the status and you need to leave Hungary.

Family reunification visa .  there are 3, 4, 5, 10 years, depending on the identity of the family member in Hungary. 

ICT internal transfer visa for large companies (4+4 years, family reunification and permanent residence permit allowed)

Student visa (preparatory or formal university, the visa holder cannot apply for family unification,  visa holders cannot apply for permanent residence permit. After graduation, you can switch to ordinary work visa, self-employed visa, or high-skilled work visa within 9 month period)
